Dehydration can range from moderate to severe. Here's what severe dehydration can cause within your body:
Confusion/Irritability- If you suddenly feel angry or irritable, it is possible the result may be due to dehydration.
Racing Heart Beat- Dehydration causes your heart to speed up as an attempt to pump the proper amount of blood your body needs to function.
Low Blood Pressure- Dehydration can cause a person’s blood level to drop. The American Heart Association explains, “it is more important to recognize how quickly your blood pressure drops than how low it drops. Keep a record of your symptoms.”
Muscle Cramps- Muscle cramps are caused by contracted muscles that refuse to relax. Active explains, “reductions in fluids cause nerve endings to be squished together, overexcited, and spontaneously discharge.”
Fever- Fever and chills are common when experiencing dehydration. Make sure to seek a doctor if your fever rises over 101°F.
If you notice that your mind is starting to play tricks on you, and you're confused by your surroundings, that should be a quick indicator that your dehydration is severe.
