Get Rid Of Fruit Flies With This Natural (And Simple!) Method

The following is a shockingly simple remedy for your fruit fly problem. Using a couple of common household items will do the trick and you will be stunned by how effective it is!

Supplies:

•One (1) jar.
Or more if you want to use this method in various areas. We recommend a canning-type mason jar but you can use a cleaned mayonnaise jar as well. Whatever you think will work for your situation. Note* I have a friend who uses cleaned baby food jars.

•Dish washing liquid (soap). Any brand will work.

•Apple Cider Vinegar.

Preparation:

You will take you jar(s) and fill it/them about ½ to 1/3 full of the apple cider vinegar. You will then mix in a few squirts, maybe a teaspoon to table spoon, of the dish washing liquid. Don’t swish it around. You do not want bubbles!

Then the hard part … You leave the concoction in the open jar wherever it is you seem to be having the most problems with fruit flies! If you leave it overnight in the morning you will see dead fruit flies at the bottom of the mixture, the beasties having drowned while you were asleep!

If you don’t catch them all the first evening then make a fresh batch the next night for those smart flies that got away the first time!

The reason this works is because the apple cider vinegar smells like rotting fruit to the flies and, thusly attracted, they are lured to their doom! The dish washing liquid dish breaks to the surface of the vinegar and pulls them under and drowns them.

Don’t feel too bad for the little guys. Their lifespan isn’t that long to begin with and considering their lives are dedicated to feasting on what is rightfully yours we feel they have what’s coming to them!

Go ahead and give this a try. We would love to hear your results!
