If you live in an arid environment, or even just in a place that does not get a lot of year-round rain (even if you get a lot of rain or have a rainy season,) collecting water all year long can pose an issue.
This would be particularly true if you were facing an infrastructure crippling survival scenario; if your water supply is compromised, you will eventually run out of any stores of water you have and then what?
One method currently being tested is collecting water from the fog using a mesh technology.
This is being tested in several arid areas and has shown promise!
