In a post-apocalyptic, SHTF situation, heading down to the corner store (or Walmart, because corner stores don't really exist anymore in most places, thanks to Walmart) for supplies isn't likely to be an option. After all, with all the looting, rioting and general mayhem that's sure to take place, you'll be lucky to find one scrap of useful material left in these stores when everything as we know it collapses.

For that reason, you kind of want to get a head start on stocking up right now when all that stuff is in heavy supply and not much demand.

Of course, you've stocked up on food, fuel, water and maybe some books and board games to hold you over until things right themselves again. But perhaps you haven't considered some of the other crucial things we use every day and take for granted.
