During Doomsday You’ll Eventually Run Out of Ammo. Here’s How to Make Gunpowder the Old Fashioned Way.

Gunpowder

SHTF usually only focuses on short-term survival situations where after the initial shock wears off, it's usually only days or perhaps only hours before the situation has passed.

However, not all SHTF situations are temporary. How can you really know for certain that when the grid goes down, it won't be permanent? You never know, a natural or man-made disaster could completely wipe out everything except for the men and women who survived in their bunkers.

The possibility of a long-term bug out situation is why survivalists put emphasis on knowing the skills on how to make essentials such as weapons and more specifically, gunpowder.

If a survivalist is smart, they will have already been stocking enough food to last them a long period, however, when it's all gone you will need your weapons to help you catch game. And when your ammunition runs out you're going to need to know how to make more of it.

After the break, learn how you can make gunpowder for a long-term survival situation and add this imperative skill to your skillset.

U will need something else to hunt with and save the ammo for when u need it..

Michael Steffens, could we work out the ballistics and feet per second with these as easily as we do something more established? Knowing the right charge and fps/ ballistics would be a fine piece of knowledge.

  3. Aaron Baltosser said:

That is true. With the population we have now, looking to only wild game to support us would decimate the game population in short order.

Yes but they are talking about black powder, smokeless is going to be harder to make

Run out of gunpowder? Surely you jest! It’s clear that you haven’t seen my stockpile!

Okay, already know how to make gunpowder (Black Powder)..How do I make Nitrocellulose? How do I make primers??

Should be plenty of ammo off of the dead bodies I plan on leaving behind.

Takes too long, crossbows and self bows, learn that and primitive hand to hand weapons.

30-30 is an original bp cartridge, also works great with cast bullets

Black powder is easy to make, but it would be much easier to buy about 50 pounds of smokeless powder for your AR, etc. Buy your brass, powder, primers and bullets, and don’t worry about black powder. Get into hand-loading ammunition and learn more about it. It’s a lot of fun.

During DOOMSDAY, forget anything about your Fire Arms and Ammunitions, All you do is relax and your death will come to you. Every body will have their own kind of Deaths and the End of The World will follow.

You may want to do a practice run with your theory. Most car batteries contain sulfuric acid, totally different than nitric acid. Also, it takes a specific strength of nitric acid which is usually higher than readily available sources in use (though it can often be processed a higher strength if you have the knowledge and equipment).

Many guys think they will hunt for their food. If this were to happen, the wildlife of the world would not sustain the population long and would be repeated. You wouldn’t get to hunt much for long. The millions of the huge cities will spill out into the rural areas. Fighting them off would be impossible for even military might.

  15. Russ T. Shackelfurd said:

Thank you Douglas Blackwolf, for the correction. The reference with sulfuric acid was meant to be combined with potassium chlorate and sugar. Not gunpowder for firearms, just explosive uses.

Stick n string knapped arrowheads put food on that table long before gun powder and even went up against firearms in war . Besides if it was a nuke that caused this doubt there would be much wildlife left except cockroaches .

look up ‘The Book of the Crossbow’ it goes thru the development of crossbows and catapult type weapons

Instead of making gunpowder you should make gun cotton about ten times more powerful than black powder and you only need two ingredients

Strip them clean. Only underwear and blue helmets be left everything else can be used to barter with or use yourself.

Black powder in a modern smokeless case will destroy your gun and possibly your hand when it explodes in your modern gun. Buy a flint lock Black powder rifle and learn how to make lead balls.

Bingo. My weapons are for protection and fighting, which I have enough ammo and reloading supplies to keep my going for years and years. Plus I keep handloading. I’ve been a bowhunter for 34 years now so my bows would be primary hunting tool. Nice thing about killing game with a bow is there is no report from a gunshot to draw unwanted attention.

Most people will either die waiting for the government to save them die in the mountains trying to live out there with no training/experience in the timber. I am fortunate that we live at the base of the cascades in a rural community 100 miles away from a major city. Spending almost 100 days a year in those mountains hunting is a plus as well. Your average person wouldn’t survive their first winter out here.

Damn goat humpers, inbred maggots uneducated fools. If this fool would stop eating the peanuts out of hitlery’s$#%&!@* he may see no conservative has done what his fudge packing buddies do

  24. Bill Parke said:

Indeed. The ammo is for security. Bows for game.

It’s all in how you manage the resources.

“Eventually run out of ammo”???…..LOL….Boy, aren’t we optimistic!…..LMAO

  26. Michael Stout said:

Pretty sure I won’t run out as long as there are enemy bodies to loot.

It is always good to know how to make and use components that you need. however the words;Improvise, adapt and overcome should always be in your mind. There is not just one way to do something. Adapt to the situation, improvise what you need and overcome the situation. OOOOHHHHRRRAAAHHH!!!!
