Not every survival situation is a SHTF moment – the difference is immediacy and potential dangers. Preparing for each is very different as well.

While there is a lot of overlap, a SHTF moment has a lot of immediate and dire requirements, including dealing with the shock of having your world turned upside down.

A survival situation takes a much longer-term approach – dealing with the aftermath of a SHTF moment. The requirements are much different than merely surviving, the goal is to survive, but as comfortably as possible.

There are many common items, though, that we overlook, that can make life easier during that survival situation – stuff that is not necessarily life and death, but will greatly affect comfort levels and thus, morale.
