Do You Know The Knife Laws In Your State?

Like firearms laws, knife laws vary from state and like firearms laws, the variances can be surprising.

It is critical that you know the laws of the state you live in but also any state you visit.

Don't assume that the laws are the same – because chances are they are not.

New York State, a fairly liberal place, for instance, has almost no restrictions while Mississippi, a fairly conservative place, actually has a lot of restrictions and prohibitions.

California's laws are geared very particularly at stopping criminals, while Tennessee's laws are more convoluted than clear, both in intent and practical application.

Several states tend to be even more restrictive or confusing.  Check out our comprehensive list and if your state did not make the cut, it is because they either had few laws or the laws were crystal clear in both intent and practical application.

See what your state has in store for you…

South Carolina does not consider a knife a weapon! Unless it is being used to commit a Crime!….. It wasn’t on the list!

When it says you can’t carry a knife that is a certain length does it mean whole knife or just blade?

Even with a concealed carry permit, MS is a open carry state as well. Other then skinning a deer or possibly a cord/belt you can keep the knife.

My state laws regarding knives is fairly nonexistant. Alabama is totally cool with people buying knives.
