Could You Identify These Dangerous Snakes In Nature?

dangerous snakes

In the majority, snakes are not poisonous and if you are bitten by one, the largest threat to you is actually infection of the wound and exposure to bacteria that that is prominent in just about every snake's mouth.

If you are bitten by a non poisonous snake, even if the bite seems small, if blood is drawn, treat it as a serious wound because it can develop into something very serious without even having venom be present.

Although this article covers poisonous snakes in Kansas but the description of the various, major venomous snakes is a reliable guide for most of the south and Midwest.

You should, however, check with your state's Fish and Wildlife organization to see what, if any poisonous snakes exist in your state or region.

On the next page, we cover the most common venomous snakes for the region cited above.

Copperheads only kill small animals and small children. I was bit by a copperhead and the dr said it wouldn’t kill me but make me sick. It took three shots of the anti venom to get it in me as I was allergic and it had to be reduced with saline.

If he is on the ground it’s a rattlesnake if it’s in the water it’s a water moccasin. I am not getting close enough to look it in the eyes.

The venom from any one of those can kill a man if antivenin is not available shortly after the bite. The venom is tissue destroying & extremely painful.

Top is a copperhead, then the water mocassin, followed by two different types of rattlesnakes. Born and raised in OK, any Okie kid can identify these.

Michael if you pulled your head out of your$#%&!@*you would be aware that around 100 000 thousand dogs have been killed as I’ve written this.

Michael Cross you an alcoholic? Don’t know how you have come up with that. Dogs kill people why? Because that human deserved it!

Kings, Blue indigos and some others love to eat venomous snakes like rattlers. They are worth having around should one live in that environment. If they didn’t keep rodents populations down we couldn’t handle that problem. Know any Australians? They lost many of their snake populations that then rodents literally took over. Very sickening, so some predator snakes are OK by me. Now if they could figure out how to cope with epidemic snake population in Florida that started by releasing pet Boas. They are taking over the state if they haven’t by now.

Doesn’t matter what snake is what, the only good snake is a DEAD snake! Even those “non venomous” snakes bite & they eat rodents that have diseases, that bite can get infected! Chop off their head & move on!

  20. Lynn Carden said:

Yes they are big and black…..but are a help ,but you should avoid any so not to get bite.

  23. Lynn Carden said:

Copperheads are dangerous because. They attack without warning and even not defending itself. I remember when one of my favorite aunts and a distant cousin was picking blackberries….Cousin was bite on foot. Almost lost it….
