If you think that you won't ever get bit by a venomous snake while you're off the grid or spending time outdoors, you're wrong. When I was a young girl, my dad got bit by a rattlesnake in our backyard. He was doing yard work when he encountered what he thought was a bull snake. In reality, the snake was a baby rattlesnake, which makes it tricky to identify without its rattles.
It's important to learn how to identify a snake, even the young ones. By studying and learning how to recognize certain types of snakes, you should be able to identify one by its head shape and coloring. As a survivalist, you know that a SHTF situation will happen and when it does take place, you should be aware how to identify these dangerous reptiles.
However, even though you learn how to identify these venomous snakes doesn't mean you can't get bit. At least you'll know what snake you're dealing with, and usually, if you don't step on one they should hopefully slither away. And you can back the hell away.
Most snakes are not venomous, but the venomous ones can catch you by surprise. My Dad got bit by a rattlesnake, and he was in our backyard! Be prepared and don't let this happen to you.

I walked right past a 4 foot rat snake last night at work, didn’t even notice it. Lab guy told me he spotted it and sure enough right there on the sidewalk (rather poor lighting mind you). Anywho, they are out and about. I will certainly be more aware, non-venomous or not lol

The Massasauga rattlesnake loves swampy areas and is commonly called the swamp rattlesnake. They are found in Pennsylvania , not just Kansas.
The timber rattlesnake is only found in kansas? Bullshit !
They are all up and down the east coast from Maine to Florida. In Florida they are called the “cane brake rattlesnake”
