Over the last 25 years, our society, indeed almost every society, has gone from slightly computerized to computers being ubiquitous in all we do.

You simply cannot find an element of life that is not in some way computerized to one degree or another.

That has vastly increased our vulnerabilities in regards to those systems and components becoming hacked.

What used to be fodder for meddling, basement dwelling geeks in Hollywood movies has become real-time, disconcerting threats from terrorists, criminals and the malicious.

Award-winning journalist Ted Koppel recently wrote a book on the vulnerabilities of our electrical grid to hackers, but the risk goes much further.

To be sure, there is a real-time threat of our grid being brought down regionally or even in its entirety, and we are extremely under-prepared for it, but that is just the tip of the hacking iceberg.
