One can imagine a well made Kuksa serving a Sami reindeer herder well for years in the Arctic area of northern Scandnavia.
To see how to make one, check out this video!
Bushcraft is more than having so much gear that you look like a mobile sporting goods and hardware store in the middle of nowhere; a big part of bushcraft is being able to make your own tools and utensils.
The Kuksa is a fairly easy project to endeavor although it takes patience to not be over-eager and try to cut off too much wood, risking ruining the shape of the vessel.
Whether for personal use or as a barter item, a well made Kuksa would easily meet all your drinking vessel needs and as you made more you would get better and better at it!
