Bought a hex 1930 Tula at Grande Cinco a few years ago. Haven’t seen one on the shelf in at least 2 or 3 years.

If you can still find one for under $100 this holds true.
That doesn’t mean a surplus 91/30 is necessarily a “good” rifle. They usualy go bang but tend to have cycling issues on account of a fugly bolt action and loose wartime quality control. Pain to load. Slow to shoot. Shitty sights. Oddball caliber
For a “nice” mosin you usually need to be more picky and prepared to drop a little more money. Not a lot more but usually more than $100. Finnish M39s were just shy of $400 last I checked. At that price you can get into more modern, ergonomic and accurate guns in common chamberings.

Here they sell for 400.00. I bought one in the early 90s for 100.00 . Shoots good. But in a shtf better to have a 5.56. 308 , 9mm. Will be lots of these laying around

While this is a decent rifle you can’t find one for any close to $100 any more. The last time I looked at a price on one was over a year ago and it was $185 for a single rifle. The price has gone up so much due to the import restrictions put in place by the Obama Administration.

I don’t think the author did much research on the topic at hand. I defy you to find a decent Mosin for $100….

I got mine, complete with sling, bayonet, 2ammo pouches, 2 oil cans, toolbag (which i never figured out) and a box of 20 bullets, “new” for under $150 at my local gun store about 4-5 years ago and i love my rifle.
When i got mine it had this resin or rosin stuff all over it, in it, filled up the barrel and chamber. This tells me it was stored very good and never actually used in war.

Also i guess to each their own but i find the gun very solid, and an accurate shooter. I find it very simple to load and shoot, and I really like the safety bc im the only one in the house strong enough to take the safety off and when i show my friends they cant figure out how to take it off lol

Most issued and used combat rifle of WWII. The Russian 91/30 Mosin Nagano.

Did someone just cut and paste to create an article?
Since Obama’s Russian import ban (2013?), Mosin Nagano 91/30’s have been over $250 USD.
Come on and do a small amount of research before attempting to educate your followers. They opposite has occurred.

I bought one off of bud gun shop 7 years ago for 100 dollars. It was a tack driver and maybe one of the best rifles i ever owned. Sold it and regret it because they are no longer 100 dollar rifles. For the same quality i purchased would be a few hundred dollars now easily.

I have two. One dragoon and one m44. Awesome rifles. The older one has issues cycling because of the hex receiver and I’m using surplus ammo but I love it anyway

Rims? Hardly. The stock does more than cosmetics. Brings down overall length, adds scope rail, adds bipod, balances rifle. But nice attempt to troll.

Any good places to actually get one and pay under a $100? Did a Google search and the ones I seen are over $100.

Its a fun gun but never would I use it for survival purposes, I sold mine for 215 with 380 rounds of ammo, its fun but I don’t find it to be practical, my remington 870 12 is a reliable weapon and is very practical, I shoot slugs for distance, buck shot for cqc, and target load for shits and giggles

Exactlym maybe 10 yrs ago. I had a clean example my friends father was a ginsmith and had done extensive work to. Composite stock. Milled barrel. Ect. I loved the gun. It was stolen.

Mosin Nagants are far from under $100 these days.

Back when I bought mine, I did get it for $89, a little over $100 after taxes and such. But these days, a run of the mill 91/30 will cost you $200 minimum…

Which sucks cause they truly are a $100 rifle. No one should be paying more than that really… but here we are.

They are about $200-$225 now full of cosmoline….I got one with a nice scope….not bad!

Comment a link where a Mosin can be found in stock for $110 or less…

  20. JB Paul said:

Yeah every one I’ve seen lately is around 2. Unless you can find a cheap crate of them somewhere

  21. JB Paul said:

Cosmoline. The Russians packed them full of it.

  22. JB Paul said:

Yeah not 100$ anymore. And if you are willing to pay the money for one of the better mosin’s, you may as well get a modern bolt action. The ruger American comes in all calibers, and will run you like 300$. Very accurate and reliable. Even aftermarket parts companies are starting to take notice of their popularity and creating stocks, mags and magwells for the American. And that’s a cheaper more reliable one, with today’s firearms, it doesn’t make sense to invest in a rifle that for the most part was shoveled out as fast as it could be produced during ww2, and then pretty quickly replaced by the ak47 and sks platforms. It’s not known for incredible grouping, it’s a fun gun to shoot and a bit of history but there are far more reliable bolt actions out there. Get a Remington 700 and you won’t be disappointed.
