It is what I have, and I have not seen the price under $100 in a very long time. But they are simply made, affordable, and reliable.

I agree. Very affordable and definitely worth adding to your supplies. I paid a little over $125 for mine.

I can’t find a single one for under 200.00 unless you buy a case :/ most are 250ish

Echoing everyone else. Prices are going up, but with care a fantastic rifle can be had relatively inexpensively.

The article is about 2 years behind the curve in pricing. When people find a good thing, supply and demand push prices up.

exactly, I bought a M44 15 years ago for that price. But not lately

I paid 70 each for mine back in the late 90s. Then after they became popular I sold all of them.

Even at $250 this is a rifle that is worth it if the SHTF in terms of stopping power.

Yeah them days are over, bought mine for $99 several years ago. Wish I had bought more now all double that price at least.

Had the short one and it kicked like a mule. You need to remember that the older military ammo is caustic and you have to scrupulously clean the barrel every time you take it out shooting.

The last one I bought for under $100 was in 2004 paid $89 for it. I have 5 of them and never ever found the M-44 for less than $200

Had the carbine an long rifle. Both were great deer rifles an the ammo was cheap. Was easy to stockpile. Bought the long rifle for 120 at cabelas.

Yall need to update your article. Since Obama’s embargo on all foreign guns it’s impossible to get guns like the mosin and sks into the country. The prices have doubled and in some cases tripled. I bought a non hex for $240 with ammo. That was after months of looking.

  15. Jeff Ross said:

I was told a sniper version had a bolt which closed closer to the stock. I have to dig mine out and research it.

  16. Jeff Ross said:

Haha nope. I bought it around 20 years ago. It’s a beast compared to the AR!

David Wade Epperson I’m sure it’s just an article they made a long time ago and they’re just publishing it again.

I bought the 91/30 for $80 including firearm transfer fee through a dealer in like 2008. Put a 2x pistol scope on it with a mount that replaces the rear sight. Best value I’ve ever had our of a rifle. Shooting 203gr Brown Bear spire points it’ll shoot 4 inch groups at my 300yd range.

Picked up the M44 and 200rds of hunting ammo for 175 in 2015 from a private seller. I’ve killed plenty of deer and pigs with them. Great rifles for when the weather is nasty and you don’t want to take your nice rifles out.

The lowest price I saw was on gun broker.. they’re not $100… $280 and higher

  20. Joshua Quick said:

You are not going to find one for $100 the prices when up when they were banned from entering the US. The cheapest is around $170 for a cracked beat up one. Past $200 you get a good rifle. Keep an eye on Classicfirearms.com they just got a shipment in but they were gone in an instant.

$272.24 for my round receiver all matching 1940 Tula. Got at cabelas several months back went to look at their soft a few days back and I didn’t see any Mosins for sale. Possibility of being sold out.

Before Obama you could buy one for under $100. Now even the tards that bubbafied their rifles think they are worth $300-400.

I have one and I really like it. I’m looking for an affordable 8mm Mauser. Anyone know where I can find one?

  24. Brandon Dempsey said:

If you can buy one for $100 bucks I’d be surprised. A decent one these days is about 250 or more.

  25. Harley W. Hendrix said:

I picked one up for 100 from a guy at work. This rifle is great. I got a deal on some bulk light armor piercing (silvertip) surplus ammo. So I am about 175 into mine with plenty of ammo and a great gun.

  26. Michael Gillam said:

Prices on the rifles are going a lot, prices on the bulk ammo have about doubled in the past year and change, hard to mount a scope, not particularly known for accuracy. It’s not a bad gun per se, and it’s still relatively cheap, but I think there are better options out there for similar money now. Ruger American in 308, ARs can be assembled for a few hundred bucks now and that’s about the cheapest centerfire ammo you can get
