After a SHTF situation, one reality is that there will be a lot of abandoned vehicles due to the severity of the aftermath.
Abandoned vehicles can provide a lot of survival materials, tools, and applies that you can utilize post-collapse. However, before taking advantage of that car that's no longer in use, it's vital to make sure it's actually abandoned. You can't start taking things from the car unless you've established that it's indeed left behind by its previous owners.
Once you have established that the car is abandoned there is an unlimited amount of supplies you can re-purpose for survival uses.
Some of these items include hoses, mirrors, and the list go on and on. Use these supplies to your advantage and add them to your SHTF stash because at one time or another these items will be useful to you.

Garbage click bait. Lost a follower.
This article sucks it didn’t even mention the alternator! Also in a survival situation the motor oil would be extremely useful.

The whole thing.

We were just talking about this.
You forgot the insulation in the doors the trunk and engine compartment …the stuffing in the seats for fire making ..
A Phillips screwdriver or a nail should put a hole at the bottom of that gas tank and any container , tin can , rags to soak it up Etc ..Anything that will hold liquid …
Sorry, but as soon as I see click next, I click exit.
My first got to would be a mirror.
This is a horrible guide. Seatbelt should have been number one.
Didn’t mention the alternator, cushion from seats, carpet.
Check the console? The trunk? No$#%&!@*
The lead? ?? Carbon ??? And yea you could make automatic fishing reels with seat belts
A lot of lead in the batteries! !
You wont live long with a minset like that.

And eric still mia… Hmm. Yup… Youtube aint helped that one, one bit. You would think with all these asshats growing up with knowlage at the tips of their fingers they would use more than tinder and fb… Nope. Welcome… To… The new world my friends.
If you do find my rifle pick it up and start shooting. I’m either dead or a zombie.
You can also use it for heat treating bows. Considering a car on 90 to 100 degree day it can reach almost 200 degrees in a car.
Anything and everything. Could be used for bartering.
True. I’ve seen some pretty cool blades forged out of them.
The car battery will be the first thing to get, In most cases you will have to have something to poke a hole in the gas tank from the bottom to get the gas out you will not be able to use a iPhone hose, Do not forget Farm equipment like tractors
Kaleb Lutz That way the zombies will not see you
If you can break into the dash and take the whole cigarette lighter assembly. With a good battery you can use it to start fires
In the 69
In the 60s Popular Mechanics did the same article incase you were snowbound

Daniel up in this comment feed had a better list. Check in the trunk and glove box? Well no$#%&!@*Sherlock lol
Tools that are found, drop tank or go through trunk, remove pump ( save pump to use in all manor of liquid moving areas) drain fuel, use electric motors from car, altenator and battery for continuous power, set those three items together to have unlimited power, if you run across a couple inverters, you have a shelter that has as much comfort as hooking up a generator to your house now
Why is Battery, wires, and fuel the last three on the list? Start there after a quick check to open it up. If it rolls, pull excess weight to make it a wagon to pull by horse… the metal is very useful! The lights… seat make good furniture or other uses. Tires can be pulled for other uses. This list is just the beginning and doesnt even touch the big grabs first.
Actually that’s not true. They make siphoning kits for new cars, even for capless fillers. Js
Seats to sit on too lol
One car could get you quite a bit. Trucks with plows can have two alternators too
After you go through the 5000 you get from every packie you pass.
I believe he means more of a “trap” scenario vs. actual fishing.
Hood, trunk/hatch, tires (can be burned to extract the metal strands) interior panels can be used for insulation, the list goes on.
Can still shove a hose in my 96 f350, just push hard, it’s not a check ball, it’s just a damn flapper.
Let us not forget the survival kit we all carry in our vehicles. Lol mirrors to send message to another group, blind reflect an enemy or maybe even to notice you need to clean up. 🙂
Mine Would Be Spent airbags. They are a high grade Kevlar, with enough you can make soft body armor
Survivor man did the right car strip in cold out 45 miles from no were. Less Stroud made seat foam mukluks walked out dragging a sled from the striped vehicle.
Less Stroud is survivor man!!!!
I kept waiting for Captain Obvious to come out and call me a dumbass for reading this
Y’all said exactly what I was thinking
I’m not sure what these sites are after other than clicks. I’m not going to go through personal belongings when I most likely have more than they would carry in their car.
