After a SHTF situation, one reality is that there will be a lot of abandoned vehicles due to the severity of the aftermath.

Abandoned vehicles can provide a lot of survival materials, tools, and applies that you can utilize post-collapse. However, before taking advantage of that car that's no longer in use, it's vital to make sure it's actually abandoned. You can't start taking things from the car unless you've established that it's indeed left behind by its previous owners.

Once you have established that the car is abandoned there is an unlimited amount of supplies you can re-purpose for survival uses.

Some of these items include hoses, mirrors, and the list go on and on. Use these supplies to your advantage and add them to your SHTF stash because at one time or another these items will be useful to you.

A small hole in a gas tank will not make it prone to explosion. If their fire consumes the oxygen inside the tank, fire goes out.

since most likely the gas will be the first thing scavenged. I would go after the wiring harness (For cordage), Seat Foam (For fire starter), and Engine Oil (For making torches)

I am assuming this article was written by one of my 1st graders friends. There is so much more to be scavenged. You all can have the 7 items mentioned in this article. I will take 7 different items and you all will be coming to me for stuff long before I come to you!

Pretty bad article just click bait mostly. Fyi its almost impossible to siphon gas out of a car built since the 80s because there is a check ball inside the filler neck that keeps the gasoline from pouring out in case a rollover accident, the quickest and easiest way to get gas out is just to use a punch of some kind and catch the gas in a pan then transfer to a suitable container.

Preferably with a metal object striking another metal object hopefully creating one spark. Sparks and has goes so well with each other. You can still siphon gas from the new cars but it is hard if you just stick a hose down the fill tube. Just have to be smart and understand how things work. Much safer than striking metal objects together near flammable gas. Just saying let me know when you are going to do it, I’ll dial 911 for you.
