Post-collapse, one reality is there will be plenty of abandoned vehicles due to the severity of the aftermath.
An abandoned car can provide a lot of survival tools, materials, and supplies that anyone can utilize after SHTF. However, before anyone takes advantage of a vehicle that's no longer in use, it's important to make sure it actually has been abandoned.
No one should take from a car unless it has been established that it is an abandoned car.
Once you've established the car is left there is an unlimited amount of supplies you can utilize for your own survival uses.
Some of these items include mirrors, hoses, and the list goes on. A prepper can use these supplies to their advantage and add them to their SHTF stash because at one time, or another these supplies will come in handy.
To figure out what an incredible list of supplies and parts you can salvage from an abandoned vehicle are, check out the next page.

I’d say alternator/belt also. But then the person would really need to be technical.
Didn’t read it but I’m going to say; battery, alternator, belts, electrical whip, fan, and drive line. You got yourself a wind powered turbine.
Haha, you are lightyears ahead of the article tactically and mechanically.
“check the trunk and glove box!”
Haha really? Now I have to read this thing.
Haha just ready it. Yeah check the trunk and glove box. Take the mirror…?… take the seat belts???…. yeah I guess but duh. There are so many uses for car parts other than the obvious.
the fan and alternator and serpentine belt to put the fan in a steady flow of water to run the alternator for consistent flow of electricity
Yes it won’t run at full capacity but constant
All the wires. Not only are wires essential to any primitive electrical project, but they can also be used in place of twine for lashing. The metal in the body can be used for making containers, as can that of the fuel tank (need to hear treat to drive off any hydrocarbons if you’re going to use it to hold/cook food/water). I fact windshields/windows can be used as…well…windows. Do t be anybody making glass for quite some time after TEOTWAKI.
*heat treat. Kill it with fire!
Strip the radiator for the gold man you stupid?
Again, multiple pages!!
Just list the items and if we want more we will keep reading!
Could you use the fabric and leather from the seats?
The list is endless, if battery is good going to rig up one of the many lights found in a car. Remove a seat and won’t sit on the ground anyone. The list is limit less, but the most important thing is the knowledge to do these things and a basic set of tools.
Steal the rims, if they’re cool.
I would say alternator is a big one to grab. You can rig it to a bicycle, make either a wind mill or water mill etc to charge the batteries and use the automotive bulbs for lighting.
Would run a small light or slowly charge a battery
Michael Watts yes you are right
I’ve seen a guy do that into a cave that he lived in off the grid and wired up a few car lights to a toggle switch
I’m ready for the apocalypse! I don’t know about the rest of you.

This one item per page click bait$#%&!@*ruins every page. Way to sell out.
Well if I would somehow die my cars have 50hp 9mm rounds, a spare glock mag, first aid kit, rope, chain, a small tool box with the essentials, filet knife, machete, pocket knife, flashlight, and a few other things but hell is consider that a nice score. Especially the ammo and mag.
So many more items available than listed here.
I like the lead weights on car rims you can melt them down into ammo for our 22 rifle and sinkers for our fishing lines, more if your a mold maker!
A car is a treasure trove!
Seat belts.
Thank you
