To protect yourself or to reach out and touch somebody post-collapse doesn't necessarily mean you need to stock up on a million guns and shells right now. Sometimes the same effect can be accomplished with some junkyard engineering. Check it out below.
1. Trebuchet
This giant trebuchet has an equally giant amount of power, making this catapult seriously badass.

This is another classic homemade weapon with it’s own twist.

With an air compressor, a diesel nozzle, a fuel tank, some hose, and some fittings, you’ll have a flame thrower capable of running off of tiki torch fuel.4. The War Hammer

The name leaves little to the imagination when it comes to what this thing is made to do- sling saw blades.
So which weapon would you choose? Are you going to run around with a pipe gun, kicking it Fallout style? Or are you going to storm the castles with your trebuchet? Even if you have no plans to use these when SHTF, they are still immensely fun tools to build and even more fun to play with. Exercise some caution, though. The last thing you want to do is have to explain to your spouse why you're pulling a saw blade out of the side of the house.
