Packing a bug out bag is always a somewhat challenging and stress-inducing event. On the one hand, you want to make sure you've got everything you need when SHTF.

On the other hand, you don't want to pack so much extra junk that you end up carrying twice the weight you actually need to have.

Extra weight means extra energy spent while en route to your bug out location, slower traveling speed, and more chance of injuring yourself while carrying your bug out bag.

While you may know what you absolutely need to pack, like a blade, cordage, and fire starters, you may be at a loss as to what sorts of things you should avoid packing at all costs.

After all, you're preparing for a bug out emergency, not an ordinary camping trip.

For some great advice on the sorts of things you can generally leave at home, take a look at the list on the next page.

I use clear plastic straws for pills. Use a lighter and a pair if pliers to melt one end shut, drop in the dose of tylenol, etc, pinch off other end, hit it with the lighter and seal it. Viola! Waterproof single servings. Works for tinder too.
