7 Bizarre Methods Our Ancestors Used to Keep From Freezing

We can learn a lot about survival from history books and our ancestors. The need to survive in extreme and less-than-desirable situations is nothing new.

Although many of the methods and tactics they used are no longer done today, we can appreciate the creativity and ingenuity behind many of the ideas.

One example of their creative endeavors involves the strange methods they used to keep warm and we go a list of them for you (check it out on the next slide!). Some of the things on this list may not seem so strange as we still do them today even if for a different reason (see number 4).

One look at this list on the next slide and you'll see how far we've come in terms of modern technology and lifestyle. 

That said, there are a few things we can learn from and adapt to better fit our modern times.

    Forgot bed curtains – bed curtains where made of heavy fabric (woolen) or tapestry like fabrics that stopped cold drafts and created a insulated cocoon to trap in the warmth. Scrooge wasn’t a fool!
