Among the survival Rule of Three, shelter ranks at the top with the shortest time frame for a reason; without it in extreme conditions, you can get injured, sick, die, or all three in successive order.
More than any of the other “threes,” shelter is the starting point and in most survival cases, the most important.
It shields you from the elements, animals, other people, weather and much more. It gives you a place of refuge and rest and rest. And, if you are in an extreme environment, it can keep you alive.
The question is what type of shelter should you look for or construct and what do you need to know for each type?
On the next page, we cover types of shelter as well as some tips for building them.
