If there is one thing we can thank the 1976 movie Jaws for, it’s introducing one and all to that “eating machine” known as a Great White shark. Not only was the movie well done and scary, but it had the ability to make people think twice about our sea brethren. Not to mention it also taught people to keep a fair and respectful distance even if someone saw that fin poking up and out of the water!

Shark attacks were not unheard of before the movie, but we did tend to examine them a bit more closely afterward. As a matter of fact, between the years from 2004 to 2013, there were 689 recorded shark attacks worldwide! That is an average of sixty-nine attacks per year!

Thankfully not all of these shark attacks were fatal, maybe one in ten, but it is a frightening statistic regardless.

Yet, what do we really know about these beasts?

One day a survival situation may rest on the knowledge man has when it comes to sharks.

Therefore, over on the next page, learn about five shark attack facts that could save your life!
