Martial law. It's one phrase that terrifies all citizens, regardless of their political leanings. With martial law comes complete restrictions of rights and privileges, a weakened economy, and lessened individual power to enact change via voting or even protesting.
Of course, one could argue that we are under martial law right now, but compared to what our situation could be, any form of martial law that exists right now is child's play.
For true martial law, one or all of 5 things must occur, otherwise, the people see the enacting of martial law as an arbitrary crackdown and will fight back. For martial law to be truly effective, the people must think that the government is acting in the interest of the people.
One look at history, and you will know this is an absolute fallacy; martial law exists only for the benefit of those in power, and regardless of where you stand on the political playing field, you know that's not the voters.

Martial Law issued to maintain government power or that’s in violation of Constitution Liberties will be considered an act of Treason and dealt with in a swift and decisive way. As a Veteran, I swore an oath to defend the USA against all threats, foreign and domestic. I fought in Vietnam and will fight again, if necessary….and I’m not alone. Of that I’m certain.
