I am one of those people who always has at least a few types of lip balm hanging around.

Usually, that “few” includes a few open, a few in my desk, a few in my backpack, even a few that occasionally end up in the wash.

You get the picture.

What I did not realize is that apart from saving my lips, lip balm can be a very useful survival tool and in some cases, it could even be a life saver. Seriously, that little tube of lip balm could, in the right circumstance, save your life.

In fact, in some cases, that survival tool could be the difference between being able to start a fire, seal and protect a minor, topical wound or create a light source.
