As humans, it's easy to be confident in our abilities. Since we're so evolved we might overestimate our abilities, particularly when it comes to survival situations and the fight or flight instincts kick in.

When we are stuck in a moment of panic, it can be challenging to remember the best practices for survival. The thoughts can start racing through your head and may be limited to, “What should I do?!

Sometimes we might fight and lose, but we might also decide to take flight and still lose. Perhaps there is a third option that will get us out in one piece.

In these four situations, you shouldn't even consider the flight option. Why? Because when outrunning these threats, you wouldn't be able to run that fast.

Old saying- — You don’t have to outrun a bear. You just have to out run the people you are with.

I read of a man who killed a grizzly with one powerful hit using a maul…while (no pun intended) it was mauling his friend…Native Americans would kill them by getting the bear to chase them to a appointed place where they are the last moment raised the tip of a 14′ spear, and the bear impaled itself.

This is why I carry a gun even if just my 45. I can’t out run them and I will put lead in them. They will learn I am higher on the food chain.

I have dealt with wild bears more than once . You are in their home you need to let them know you are not a threat to them and you need to slowly walk away

Ok …I backpack and camp in alot of Wilderness áreas…you don’t see anyone 99 percent of the time and the potential of you running into a bear, cougar, wolf etc goes up! I bring an AR-15 and a 22 pistol on every one of my hikes! When I see videos of people in cougar country without a gun and they get attacked…it’s like cmon… don’t be in that position! Lol rant over
