4 Rifles to Stock up on for Cheap Ammo

gun

Every few years or so, there is a large explosion of activity in gun stores all across the country. Fears amid the political landscape often fuel such things, as millions of citizens clear the shelves of ammunition, terrified of what might be to come.

The constant fear leads to a sharp rise in prices as manufacturers struggle to keep up with the demand. Of course, this is then felt in the pocketbooks of everyone who was late to the show.

If you're looking to include a new firearm in your life–or maybe it's your first gun purchase — chances are you're keeping these prices in mind.

After all, what's the point of having a gun if you can never afford to fire it? And if you happen to be stocking up for when SHTF? Well, then you'll want to be able to get as many rounds as possible for as little money as possible.

For some advice on what some of the best guns are for a great price, check out the next page.

But then won’t ammo prices go up if people hoard it?

Invest in common round weapons, IF you make it, there will be plenty laying around

It’s nice to have a 22 but in bolt action or lever action. Then you can shoot 22 shorts, long, and long rifle out of them. I love how quiet the 22 shorts are ( like a pellet gun )

One I would have put on the list is the Mosin-Negant 7.62x54R is also very cheap and available in 700 round spam cans for long term storage

A .22 is a fine choice for SHTF . Doesn’t cost much and can stuff 500 loose rounds or a healthy amount of mags in pockets. “Easy to hush up too”.

You left off high powered air rifles. They are cheaper to buy and ammo is only 4 cents per pellet. See rws and Stoeger for models with gas charged cylinders rather than coil springs

.22LR is still very difficult to get in stores where Im at and has been for about 5 years now.

Get what Nato uses, that way if they do get here you will have a endless supply.

    My primary is 3006

Or instead of a Storm you do a Hipoint 9mm carbine. Less then half the price and it shoots very well and accurate… shot both 9mm and 45 quite a bit
    And no issues.

There is no such thing as cheap ammo anymore, only less expensive ammo.

22 mag is better then a .22 little more bang for the $ 223 for a better rifle shells are cheap sks 7.62 very low power but hard hitting at very close range, If your deer hunting I would not recommend a 7.62 mm

  13. David Randall said:

Except in many areas .22 ammo is hard to find and in a Shtf situation it will be even harder to find

Clickbait. Nothing impressive to learn here, 10/22, SKS, non specific 9mm stuff, that’s about the extent of the article. You can have your 3 minutes of your life back now.

My view on this is a little different. I rely on a .22WMR for a survival hunting rifle. It is extremely accurate, small enough for squirrels and rabbits, and yet can take a deer with head shots (emergency survival hunting only). The ammo is a lot higher than .22LR, but I have a large stockpile and it gives me greater fleibility with the weapon. I own quite a few guns, but if I had to bug out with only one – it would be that rifle. I would love to find a .22WMR over 12 gage combo gun, but I don’t think they exist. I may have one built someday.

As for the cover photo (ruger 10/22) 22 ammo is not cheap and is very hard to find! I didn’t bother to read the article as it was obviously written by an out of touch, misinformed fucking idiot!!!

10/22- Glock 9mm- AR in 5.56 and a 12 gauge pump. That would be the best 4 to have .

  18. Dave Sabelfeldt said:

    Ruger AR15 (.223), Savage Axis (.223), Marlin 925 (.22mag), S&W M&P Shield (.40cal)

  19. Joseph Walker said:

That’s about a complete set. Maybe add a Remington 700 and a revolver.

  20. John Henry said:

    Yep . That would be my next 2 choices. .308 and a .357 . I’d also have my .45

  21. Daniel Fowle said:

I have a 9mm, 12 gauge, .308 and a .22/410 that I stockpile ammo for. Those are my most used firearms and besides my AR, the only ones that leave the safe.

Do not buy a RAS47! Whoever placed that rifle on this list does not know anything about AKs or was paid to add that weapon. They have been tested and have not passed. Some have literally blown up. The problem seems to be the soft steel that is used.

  23. Chris Broom said:

Four rifles in the title and you list a Beretta Storm. Get real.

  24. Wade Harman said:

I agree with the .308, but instead of the .357 I would go .44mag with a ported revolver and lever rifle. A rifle and pistol in the same caliber that can handle medium size game

  25. John Henry said:

Ok agree . ,357 revolver and a lever gun can do self defense and game and use 2 different rounds

  26. Damian Perkins said:

If you want a good AK on the cheap, the Hungarian AMD 63 (fixed stock) or 65 (folding stock) will do the job. Around $500 these days.
