It’s nice to have a 22 but in bolt action or lever action. Then you can shoot 22 shorts, long, and long rifle out of them. I love how quiet the 22 shorts are ( like a pellet gun )
One I would have put on the list is the Mosin-Negant 7.62x54R is also very cheap and available in 700 round spam cans for long term storage

A .22 is a fine choice for SHTF . Doesn’t cost much and can stuff 500 loose rounds or a healthy amount of mags in pockets. “Easy to hush up too”.
You left off high powered air rifles. They are cheaper to buy and ammo is only 4 cents per pellet. See rws and Stoeger for models with gas charged cylinders rather than coil springs
.22LR is still very difficult to get in stores where Im at and has been for about 5 years now.

Or instead of a Storm you do a Hipoint 9mm carbine. Less then half the price and it shoots very well and accurate… shot both 9mm and 45 quite a bit
And no issues.

There is no such thing as cheap ammo anymore, only less expensive ammo.
22 mag is better then a .22 little more bang for the $ 223 for a better rifle shells are cheap sks 7.62 very low power but hard hitting at very close range, If your deer hunting I would not recommend a 7.62 mm
Except in many areas .22 ammo is hard to find and in a Shtf situation it will be even harder to find

My view on this is a little different. I rely on a .22WMR for a survival hunting rifle. It is extremely accurate, small enough for squirrels and rabbits, and yet can take a deer with head shots (emergency survival hunting only). The ammo is a lot higher than .22LR, but I have a large stockpile and it gives me greater fleibility with the weapon. I own quite a few guns, but if I had to bug out with only one – it would be that rifle. I would love to find a .22WMR over 12 gage combo gun, but I don’t think they exist. I may have one built someday.

10/22- Glock 9mm- AR in 5.56 and a 12 gauge pump. That would be the best 4 to have .

I have a 9mm, 12 gauge, .308 and a .22/410 that I stockpile ammo for. Those are my most used firearms and besides my AR, the only ones that leave the safe.
Do not buy a RAS47! Whoever placed that rifle on this list does not know anything about AKs or was paid to add that weapon. They have been tested and have not passed. Some have literally blown up. The problem seems to be the soft steel that is used.

I agree with the .308, but instead of the .357 I would go .44mag with a ported revolver and lever rifle. A rifle and pistol in the same caliber that can handle medium size game

If you want a good AK on the cheap, the Hungarian AMD 63 (fixed stock) or 65 (folding stock) will do the job. Around $500 these days.
