Well I guess they are all Conifers and many Conifers are in the family Pineacea but totally different genus and species with different properties. Practically speaking Pines, Firs, Spruce, Larch, etc… Are different trees. I just wouldn’t expect a Web site specializing in this sort of thing to call Firs, Pines and such…

If you’re talking ‘doomsday’ as in the aftermath of a full nuclear exchange, don’t fool yourselves. Pure hell on Earth that even Dante couldn’t have described. That’s not going to be anything you’re going to want to try and live through. And the toughest-minded ‘prepper’ or trained ex-military or survivalist will not be ready. What you all need to make sure is that doomsday never happens..doomsday is NOT inevitable.

It’s interesting that the spruce tree is shown in each picture. There isn’t a pine tree present, but spruce gum is good!

As far as pine nuts it all depends what part of the land you live near to find the nuts you seek many types of pines

Don’t wound trees. You don’t need to. If you look around a bit you can find all the resin you need without sounding a tree. Down pine is a good source of lighter knot or “fat lighter”. I hate camping and seeing jacked up trees everywhere. You are there for a night your damage shouldn’t be permanent.

Of course in a life or death situation everything is fair but most people driving nails into trees or hacking them up aren’t in a survival situation. They are trying out a neat new hatchet.

Ain’t a problem down here on the Gulf Coast. Almost all we have in many areas are pines.

That was good one. It might be worth doing a little more research on each of these uses.
