Yes….if it’s the only meat you are eating.
OMG please retire this article. You post it all the time!!
That’s what I was thinking it feels like once a week they tell us eat nothing but rabbit and you’ll die. We are full aware limiting your diet to just one thing can cause death.
I really need to stop following die hard. These articles, this is only one of many, are just plain dumb.
All these comments are true. If it’s the only meat you eat. What you guys need to point out as another page did, is that even if this is true…. there is absolutely no way that you could possibly die from this! Why? Take into consideration how many people are going to be fed. Let’s say it’s you, your wife and two kids. This other article I read postulated that each person would need 6 squirrels per day to maintain proper caloric intake. You guys been out squirrel hunting? Ain’t no way in hell you’re gonna maintain a 6 squirrel per day intake! Same with rabbits!
This is good for basic info. Now, post some options.
How did the American Indian survive for 8000 years. They should have died in one year.
Get real.
They always post that article, so funny…you are to utilize amy and all food sources you may need too…I fully agree Mike!
Exactly right.
Eat absolutely everything that is edible, that you can get your hands on.
protein is protein!
If you are only eating wild rabbit, yeah, you could die from rabbit starvation. If you raise the rabbits that you eat, keep them in small hutches, and eat the bone marrow and most organ meat and feed them well, you will be fine as they will develop fat from lack of activity. Just like with most game animals, there is very low fat content unless you eat the fatty organs.
I think the difference in what you’re talking about and what the article is referring to is the context of the word “survival”. If you are in a plane crash or find yourself stranded in some vaste wilderness, along with working to make it to civilization, you’ll have to feed yourself… hunt. Thus the 4000/day caloric intake.
As a typical sedentary American working stiff, farming their land for sustenance, if you find yourself eating 4000 calories per day, soon you won’t be able to get off your couch, let alone work your farm. As you mentioned, rabbits raised in captivity produce way more fatty tissue and will easily help you achieve a dietary goal of 2000 – 2500 calories a day.

In a ‘survival’ situation as you describe it, you eat what ever you can, when you can. If all you have access to is rabbiy, guess what you eat? Rabbit.
Seriously, this is like the 15th time you’ve posted this ridiculously researched article. Is that all you people do is constantly circulate the same old bs articles?
Fat is very important in ones diet.
This is stupid. Are you idiots ? Seriously are you a fing idiot .
795 calories per pound with veggies and bugs that’s enough 63% protein in just rabbit fake news
Yea, this page puts out some asinine articles.
Rabbit, squirrel, panfish. Then again, of course you don’t eat those as sole source, unless you have a lot of them
Yeah this one got under my skin they keep posting it
Bulllllllll s**t
I call B.S.
People get so upset when things don’t match up with their opinions…. Sad that.
You’ll eat what you can get your hands on, as often as you can, gather additional foods with higher or different nutritional values and supplement your diet as you can.
Only if that is all you eat.
You know what’s really good? Baby birds. You need about 200 of them to make a stew however…but Mmmmmm good!
Rabbit chops
JSIA- Rabbit/squirrel starvation will not happen if you eat the eyes organs and brains for fat content.
The problem is lack of fat in rabbits. It’s called protein starvation. Just eat the brain and should be fine.
