20 Pieces of Survival Wisdom Passed Through the Generations From the Great Depression

The Great Depression

When the stock market crashed in 1929, the world changed forever. The economic crisis of the Great Depression went on to shape the course of history. Banks failed, people lost their savings; people lost their jobs.

That's not all either. Thousands of homeless families flocked to nearby parks, thousands of people waited in bread lines for enough sustenance to keep them going. Children started looking for work to keep their families from starving. It was chaos in a way that America was not the least bit prepared for.

And although the Depression “ended,” those people were never the same. Those that had survived carried a self-sufficiency that they did not possess before – they kept their money hidden, their supplies stocked, and they prepared for the next disaster.

We can learn so much from these individuals and their struggles to survive. On the next page, there are 20 pieces of wisdom from this era that we can utilize in our own lives.
