We have a military grade thermal imager (night/day). And it’s binocular.

While I can see the uses in a bug out bag, other than that, it’s a pricey toy. Most of the uses listed have better, cheaper alternitives and some are downright dangerous. (self diagnosis by self interpretation of heat images? Give me a break.) For $600, I’ll not be pulling my wallet out.

Having seen the use of, and having used such devices, in rescue and searches I respectfully disagree that they are in any way a “toy”. It’s easy to suggest frivolous uses as evidence but even those have use as training adjuncts so long as the user takes no action that could be construed as corrective or diagnostic.
Prices will drop as they have in IR devices.

That have come so far from being just a hazy white blob that it was when I first saw thermal imaging in a man portable unit.

This is the company that makes the targeting system for the UH-1N/Y. They make an amazing product! Fun fact tho you can hide behind glass and not get spotted on imaging lol.

Got one, use it for trailing wounded deer bowhunting. Can find em in the thick brush easier.

Don’t bother. They want $600 for the thing. But I guess that’s cheap compared to 3k for the good stuff.
