12 Insanely Clever Survival Uses for… Plastic Bags!

A plastic bag actually has a lot more uses than you may think. It really is a prepper's dream tool because it can have a new life in so may places. If you have a plethora of bags and no idea what to do with them, check out the 12 prepper ideas below.

  1. Use as a sling.
  2. Use as insulation. Place inside clothes in freezing weather as an extra layer of insulation
  3. Protect your feet. Plastic bags can be used as sock or boot liners to keep moisture away from your feet.
  4. Keep your backpack from getting wet.
  5. Weave several strips into a rope.
  6. Water container (make sure it doesn’t have any holes)
  7. Stuff several bags into one bag and make a pillow.
  8. Cut into strips and mark your trail.
  9. Protect seedlings from frost.
  10. Emergency toilet paper if you have nothing else.
  11. Keep shoes separate from the rest of your gear in your bug-out bag
  12. Keep a stack in the car in case someone gets car sick and needs to throw up.

It's encouraging to know that there are so many potential uses for those plastic bags that end up in so many landfills and on the sides of highways all over the world. Many survivalists encourage the packing of a few plastic bags in your camping or bug out gear, simply because they can be used for so much.

In the meantime, they do make an excellent shoe bag for your backpack, keeping that wet mud off of your clean clothes.
