A tool that is in nearly every survival kit but is horribly underrepresented in survival circles is the mylar blanket, AKA the survival blanket.

Designed to reflect as much as 95% of the user's body heat back to them, these emergency blankets are often squirreled away into survival kits and bug out bags for use “just in case.” They are rarely pulled out until SHTF in the worst way possible: when hypothermia is already setting in, and almost all of your other gear has been rendered useless.

Mylar blankets are actually far more useful than most people realize and can be utilized in situations other than just when you're freezing to death (although they are extremely useful for that purpose).
