There is nothing more frustrating than trying to communicate your location in an area that you are unfamiliar with.

This reality mainly applies to cities for most people, but even being out in the middle of nowhere can get confusing if you do not know how our highway system is set up.

Fortunately, one of the good aspects of infrastructure planning is that whether you are in a town, city or on a federal highway is that the layout, numbering and naming systems follow certain formulas and patterns.

This information could be invaluable, especially if you are trying to guide emergency services to your location or if you are lost and need to figure out how to get to safety!
