While watching one of those “real” survival shows a while back, I was struck by a few things about the Canadian wilderness.

First, it was both wild looking and beautiful. Second, the star of the show had no problem finding a plastic water bottle.

That struck me as odd as he was dozens if not hundreds of miles from civilization, but it got me to thinking about my own excursions on fishing trips throughout Northern New England.

Virtually every trip, no matter how “pristine” the body of water and surrounding landscape, one can find a plastic bottle.

That is important because plastic bottles can also double as a versatile survival tool.
