Imagine if you had an hour to evacuate from your home due to a completely unforeseen act of nature that might have led to your home being wiped out and you losing your life.

That was what happened in Oroville, CA on February 17, 2007, at the Oroville Dam.

Intense rains led to massive damage to its main spillway, which had to be shutdown.

Shutting down the main spillway led to increased pressure on the lake side of the dam and officials worried the Dam might burst, sending an estimated 30-foot wall of water hurtling down on unsuspecting residents.

Residents were given an hour to evacuate and it was mandatory affecting over 180K residents.

This unforeseen event could happen in a dozen different ways and on the next page we cover some things you need to be prepared for should it happen to you!

An hour to evacuate would be nice. In earthquake country we don’t seem to get any notice.
