When we were kids we sat up late during those long summer vacation months watching old scary movies with timeworn dark houses, thunderstorms raging, and usually, a young couple lost and afraid inside. In these houses, there were always secret doors built into the fireplace, under a bed, or even built into the bookcase!

We hadn’t really thought of a “secret door” as anything more than a fun but age-old gimmick. But now, in the age of preparedness, having a secret door in your home, leading to a top-secret space, has incredible survival benefits!

Not only can you store vital supplies but if ever you find yourself in a hazardous situation, like a well-armed prowler breaking into the house, you have someplace to hide and call the police. This will be especially valuable after the SHTF and chaos erupt!
