Cooking in the wild does not require that you have your normal slate of cooking tools – or any cooking utensils at all.

All you need is a fire and hot coals – really, in a pinch, that is all you need.

The ash debris on the final cooked product might turn some people off, but in a SHTF moment, that will be the least of your worries.

If you do have a pan, you can use the same method and avoid the ash, it will just take longer to cook.
