Mason jars are everywhere these days and for good reason! These handy glass containers can be used for a variety of purposes including storage, serving, and gardening among others.

To inspire you, we got a fun little mason jar trick you'll wanna try on today's video.

Thrifty Fun shared a cool video that shows us how to turn a mason jar into a salt spout. Forget about lugging a cardboard salt box in your backpack, and bring this salt spout instead.

Check out the cool video on the next page. Now that I've seen how to do this hack I can't wait to try it myself!

Ditch the cardboard and put the salt in a plastic bag. Next.

2 problems I see here. 1) Cardboard may get wet but glass breaks. You can separate cardboard from salt but you can’t see glass in a pile of slat. Probably why they package it that way. 2) Glass is HEAVY. Any hiker / camper tries to reduce how much they lug into the woods not add to it. How about just using a campers hack and putting the whole cardboard salt dispenser into a gallon sized zip lock like the other stuff in your backpack?

hahahahahahahahahahah seriously…. What’s wrong with leaving it in it’s original container?

The advantage I can think is is the salt container is a little more susceptible to moisture than a Mason Jar. But that cardboard lid on the Mason Jar would suffer the same weakness.
