If someone asked you, what would you say is the greatest threat to the modern-day survivalist?

A hurricane? Tornado? Economic collapse?

Each of those is very real possibilities and for most of us, the reason we prepare for the worst, at least in the short-term.

But lurking beyond the short or medium term are bigger threats to our well-being – an EMP, mass terrorist attack, a nuclear-armed rogue state – to name just a few.

Then there are the esoteric threats – stuff that is real and there, but so far removed from our reality we do not give it much thought.

Overpopulation, depleted resources, dumb humans, artificial intelligence, a dying Sun – each is a real threat and really out there, but so far removed from our consciousness that we almost never discuss them.
