Sure, You Already Have Your Bug Out Vehicle Picked Out. But Have You Considered A Motorcycle Or Dirt Bike That's Highly Maneuverable And Fuel Efficient? Here Are The Pros And Cons…

When imagining a perfect bug out vehicle, I always find myself thinking of a hulking 4×4 that will carry me and all my cargo over the fields and through the woods to my bug out location. I'm sure I'm not alone.

On nearly every survival or prepper website this is the ideal recommended transportation; not to mention it shows up in pretty much every post-apocalyptic movie ever made.

However, what if there was another option? A motorcycle or dirt bike is highly maneuverable, much more fuel efficient, and can be moved by hand when the need arises.

So should you change all your plans for bugging out and adopt a new plan that involves revving up a motorcycle and gunning it into the sunset? Well to answer that question you'll want to know all of the pros and cons of both sides of this decision.

Take the advantages and disadvantages into account when considering the decision to make a motorcycle your bug out vehicle, which are discussed in detail on the next page.

In warmer, drier climates I see this being a viable option to consider if you don’t have a family.

The problem with most dual sport (on and off road capable) bikes is that they have small fuel tanks so even with good fuel milage you’ll have to find fuel frequently. Bikes with big tanks (Paris-Dakar type prep) can go all day on a tank but are heavy and much less maneuverable without the motor running.
