Here are the Most Imperative Survival Supplies You Can’t Live Without

Packing the right things can be a daunting task. After all, when we are in a survival situation and we forget something, there is no going back.

Chances are in a SHTF situation you won't be able to go down to the general store and get whatever you need. So what should you pack to get yourself through the collapse? Watch the video below to make sure you have the five bare essentials.

Some excellent points are brought up in this video. While it is easier to get a fire going from a match than a steel striker (in most circumstances), there is no way you are going to pack 7,000 matches for SHTF, which is what a spark striker will give you.

Also, although the video covers how valuable a steel water bottle is, it's important to note that you should make sure it is a single-wall bottle, not an insulated one, which is unsafe for putting over a fire.

The other points are spot-on. Especially when it comes to how important sleep is. If you aren't sleeping well, you won't survive long because your mental faculties will decline little by little until you make a life-threatening decision that ends your survival chances. For that reason, a sleeping bag or equivalent is key, and it makes an excellent addition to every survival bag.

I always keep a jar of Nutella under my bed in case sh*t really hits the fan.

My kit includes a kurkiri (I don’t think that’s how it’s spelled….), a 5″ Morakniv utility knife, a flint and steel striker, a smaller striker on my keys, 100% cotton cotton balls, and common sense.
