During World War II the military needed a durable adhesive that could withstand a lot of stress without failing and that was also waterproof.
Thus, Johnson & Johnson came up with duct tape.
While duct tape was created for the military, people soon discovered it could be used for a lot more.
Chances are even if you're not a very handy person you have at least one role of duct tape somewhere in your house for a quick fix.
For the majority of us, we have at least a grey and black version and diehards have traditional duct tape, gaffer tape which is used for a quick and clean removal.
