Every few years, I have to replace my riding lawn mower blades and usually, the old blades go into a box in my barn to be sold as scrap to our local junkyard.
When I saw this amazing idea for a very large machete-type knife, a light bulb went off!
There are many purposes for a knife of this size – not quite a machete, but larger than most knives.
It would be great for hacking up bait, through underbrush, chopping off branches for kindling for a fire, de-limbing a larger branch – stuff that using a machete would be overkill, but beyond the pay grade of a normal sized knife.
Plus, because you are reusing the mower blade, the cost to make this is a few metal pegs and a piece of wood to make the handle.
Check out the video on the next page to see this awesome big knife made out of an old mower blade.

Lol!
I thought the same thing.
I was going to go ad buy a machete to cut this tall weed/gr$#%&!@* by my creek. When all if a sudden, boom! Mind blown thought. Use my lawnmower blade. Since I can’t get the darn thing started, might as well use its parts for somthing.
I think Mcgiver would be proud.
The top of the blade can be turned into a saw.
Also, you can make some hades with paracord. The holes on the blade where bolt went can be useful as pry bar or wrench to loosen bolts.

It could definitely be turned into one hell of a survival weapon without a whole lot of effort.
