Keeping yourself safe from the elements when a big storm with wind, hail, snow, or rain arrives is important for you to survive, especially during a SHTF situation. Without having the right kind of shelter to protect you, you'll probably die from the horrible weather conditions before dying from illness or starvation.

When considering what type of shelter is best when you're faced with that pivotal SHTF situation some preppers may think that their tent will work just fine as a quick shelter, but tents aren't exactly that durable.

Portable tents are nice, that's for sure, but a tent won't protect you from a crazy storm that comes out of nowhere. For a long-term shelter, you will need a bug out shelter that'll withstand the harsh elements and will keep you safe during SHTF.

One prepper came up with a shelter suitable for a collapse based off of the idea of durability and portability and it's incredible!

After the break, it's hard not to be in awe when you see this prepper's bug out shelter revealed. Check out the video and decide whether you would invest in this type of long-term shelter!

I’ve seen these and done some research on them. They will work, I’ll give them that. But if you have a family or more than one person, it’s not so much a good plan. Look, facts are, you can make a bug out shelter/bad weather shelter out of just about anything. A large round concrete or plastic pipe will work just fine. You’ll have to modify it for your needs but that’s of little expense and more toward labor. You can do it with a little effort.
