Anytime you venture into the wild, you run the risk of an encounter with wildlife.
Coyotes have even been seen threatening joggers and house pets in suburban Boston, for example, in the midst of millions of residents.
There is also the risk of encountering bears, just about all over the US and of course, the very rare encounter with a sick or injured animal that feels threatened by your presence.
One of the most rare, however, is to encounter a mountain lion on a hiking trail.
This guy, faced with a showdown with a Mountain Lion, makes his presence well known and does not back down or run (which is the worst thing you can do with any big cat encounter).
He make sit known that he will not back down or cede ground, while not appearing threatening, which is a key to make the Lion decide to move on.
To see what he does to ward off this big cat, check out the video on the next page; it is pretty incredible.

Heres some catnip for you….lol
Never run. Throw rocks, yell do anything you can to make yourself appear larger and more menacing to the mountain lion.
So important to have a meaningful conversation with the beast cause they understand every word you say… wtf! Rule number one, enter their domain armed and ready! Rule number two, refer to rule number one!

I love living in the Midwest. Bears, wolves, mountain lions I have no problem with; it’s the poisonous snakes and other vermin you just run into in warmer climes that I’m a wuss for.

That is why I am ALWAYS armed in the woods. I encountered a cougar in the woods once when I was 14 years old. I had a shotgun so I wasn’t too worried. It was one of the most magical moments of my life, but I was prepared to defend myself if I had needed to.
