If you're new to the world of knots, a monkey's fist or paw is a specific type of knot.

This knot resembled the paw or fist of a monkey and it is usually utilized as a weight at the end of a heaving line or rope. Preppers tie it around a stone to use it as a weight so that it's easier to throw the rope from one location to the next.     I got my dads Arkansa toothpick when he died he wore it most of his life and its illegal to have one ,try to find one for sale ,my family came to America in 1578 so I don’t feel this kind of law should be fallowed
