Ideally, if you find yourself in a survival situation, you have cordage in your backpack or survival kit.

As we all know, however, “ideally” rarely is “realistic” and that means you have to improvise. The video below shows you how to use the natural cordage in a Stinging Nettle to make an incredibly reliable form of cordage.

As you can see, making cordage from Stinging Nettle is not something you can easily do “on the fly.”

If you are in a long-term survival setting and have the time to weave the fibers from the plant, however, you can create cordage that is as flexible and durable as almost any artificially created cordage.
