You’ve endured weeks on a desert island in the middle of some godforsaken ocean. Finally, after what feels like ages of preparation and backbreaking labor, you’ve finished and stocked a raft to get to another island you can make out across several miles of open ocean.

You thought the hard part was getting through the surf and fighting against the tide. Now you’re in the middle of the ocean, and something bumps your raft. Hard. You nearly fall into the water with the force of the blow.

You think you hit a reef or submerged rock. Until you see the fin and tail skim the surface of the water and come back and bump the raft again.

A shark taking an interest in you when all you have is a couple of inches of piled sticks keeping you out of the water is a terrifying experience.

Learn how to cope with a potential horrifying situation like this by checking out the video on the next page.
