(Video) Are Millennials Ready to Handle a Serious Emergency Situation?

We truly date ourselves when we announce that we come from the tail end of the “baby boomer” generation but, coming from that period, having a father who fought in WW2, we were taught many things that, we think, our generation did not really teach Generation X or the Millennials.

Now, with Generation Z approaching – with the world nearly always at the edge of a new disaster, there is a real fear out there that many of our young people will fall further behind when it comes to survival prepping. Telling them not everything can be solved by their iPhone is nearly unthinkable!

In other words, it is up to you as prepping parents to teach your kids how to survive during a SHTF scenario. Yet, don’t just teach the basics, tell them why it is so important to know how to live without technology. Or, if they can’t, show them how technology (re: solar panels) can work for them should the worst happen.

After the break go to the next page and learn more about millennials and if they are truly ready for a serious emergency situation!

Dude, they don’t even have the skills to change a tire! I’ve NO sympathy. They have thousands of more resources for knowledge than I did and therefore, its their fault they’re stupid.

See, that’s what I’m talking about. A. The ones doing it have a backup plan for a backup plan. B. What so many FAIL to gather is that EVERY BIT of this is in the Bible. The BACK of it!

Many will utilize current means… Take.. and only worry about themselves….
Others were better outfitted by camping and cooking and practical skills….

As a 911 dispatcher I can tell you NO. The majority of the public cannot handle much of anything that is out of the ordinary much less a real situation

Survival of the fittest, most our age won’t last 30min. It sucks that many don’t know even the basic survival skills, but it’s extremely sad that not many are willing to learn them when given the chance.

I never paid attention to this generation horse$#%&!@*lol, I’m an 80’s baby. Learned to fix my own crap from my tricycle to my truck, my dad and I did 40 below winter survival camps, learned to design and build stuff without the 200 page every detail drawn out in crayon IKEA instructions, learned how to drive in a standard in winter instead of an automatic in summer… Lol, I’m grateful I learned things “the hard way” I think most millennials (not all) will probably die 20 minutes after a serious event happens. EMP attack or massive earthquake… Lol

From another perspective, that sure would minimize the amount of incapables left living on Earth. According to history, if your intent isn’t to survive its only a matter of time before someone quits doing your work and theirs and just looks after themselves.

Parents got smartphones and became equal to the capacity of their children. Equally inept.

Well, rather than bash on someone, why not try to mentor them.If they still fail to get it,move on.Some will have the ability to learn, some will not.Same is true of any generation..

  16. Grant Williams said:

Tim Earl You are correct but simply knowing it is not enough.Learn it,live it.You cannot control what the masses think or do.

From what I know of most millennials, they are not equipped nor do they desire to equip themselves to face an uncertain future. If the unthinkable does come to past, I will have more on my mind than seeing to it that these misfits survive. That is not to say there are no good millennials, far from it! But, on the whole, I feel they may have a very hard road to go. I am firm believer in, PRAYING FOR THE BEST WHILE PREPARING FOR THE WORST!

  18. Rob Clark said:

I agree that a lot of millennials don’t have the skills and upbringing that generations before them have, but let’s remember who carries some of that blame. Parents, teachers, communities, etc all play a part in the pussification of our American children.
That’s why it’s important to teach and mentor any child willing to learn. Cuz remember, anyone that lacks skills to survive will most likely resort to taking what they need to survive in a SHTF senerio.

Lol I hope not… hahaa kids they days need to go back to the basics and start seeing life for what it is…

Pretty sure it’s speculated that a large percentafe of the world population will die if a major catastrophe occurs….what does being a millennial have to do with anything?

They won’t last a week I’ve spent 45 years putting food on my table and the forest is where me heart has always been

Everyone blames the schools and teachers for not teaching them how to cook, farm, repair stuff! Never holding themselves accountable
