If you are a survivalist, preparing for a survival incident or just a casual survivalist who wants to be prepared during a camping, hunting or fishing trip, chances are better than even you have a bunch of modern tools to help you through if that survival incident rears its ugly head.

Those tools include at a minimum, fire starters, knives, emergency meals, some form of shelter, water purifiers, and first aid.

They all, though, got their start in much simpler form.

Long before the latest fire starter with the high-tech name was even a concept on a whiteboard, for example, fire starting technology was essentially the same, but much more primitive.

And with rare exceptions, that pretty much applies to every type of survival tool in existence.

But it is important to know the foundation behind many of tools we have today and we go over that in the video on the next page.
