For a lot of people, spiders are their biggest fear. A fear of spiders is something that has been conditioned in them since they were young. Many were taught that if they encountered a spider that the best course of action would be to snuff it out with a paper towel for fear that if they didn't the spider would be lurking in their home.
Plus, in many horror movies (mostly crapfest movies, but still), spiders often get cast as the antagonist. You can't miss them on screen as they terrorize the streets, killing all of the people in their wave.
Of course, this giant spider also wraps up people into his web and saves them for later (here's looking at you Frodo and Ron Weasley).
Jokes aside, luckily most spiders are not dangerous, and they also aren't a threat to humans. However, there are several different types of spiders that have resulted in a lot of people developing a phobia of them.
It's true that venomous spiders can bite and for the very unlucky, some spider bites can lead to a terrifying death.
Matter of fact, check out the next page for some horrifying spiders in North America it's important to stick clear of. Spider #4 surprised me a lot!
